Introduction

Welcome to the 2010 Defence Discount Directory. The first thing you'll notice about this year's edition is its slightly smaller size, as advertisers increasingly prefer to focus their offers on the online Defence Discount Website - www.forcesdiscounts-mod.co.uk - with the result that there are now over 1700 discounts and offers online. The hard copy Directories are ideal for shared use in unit libraries, HIVEs, messes and tea bars and give a flavour of the sorts of deals available, however, for the greatest range of discounts and the very latest offers the Website is the way ahead.

One of the easiest ways of keeping in touch with the latest developments, discounts, competitions and offers is to sign up for the free monthly newsletter, which is sent direct to your preferred email address. The local offers section of the Website is a new addition which you may wish to explore further.

There are an increasing number of independent discount websites targeting HM Forces personnel. Many of these are 'affiliate' type schemes with offers that may or may not be available to the general public. Other sites will charge you a membership fee to access discounts. Feel free to shop around and if you find that other sites offer discounts that the MOD Scheme does not, or that offer a better deal, please take a moment to inform the Scheme administrators at feedback@crestpublications.com

We have enlisted the support of The Royal British Legion to actively promote the Scheme to its 490,000 members, however we are keen to raise awareness of the Scheme even more widely to the Veterans Community.

Crest Publications was established 15 years ago and are specialists in military publishing. Now, working in partnership with the MOD, Crest have created this website in order to ensure that you have maximum possible access to discounts as a member of Forces personnel.

This website is the online version of the Defence Discounts Directory and has a few advantages in this respect. The team at Crest are constantly working on your behalf to arrange new deals with more companies who want to reward you for the vitally important work you do. This means that new discount opportunities are being added to the website on a weekly basis and you don’t have to wait for the annual hard copy to come out before you can take advantage of them!

We will always aim to ensure that the service provided to you by this website is as helpful as possible. To this end we have created a mechanism by which you can let us know if you are unhappy with any aspect of the site. You can also let us know if you have had any difficulties in claiming your discount from any of the companies advertising on the site. The newsletter will keep you up to date with new discounts as well as discounts that are soon to be added to help you plan ahead to save money on your purchases. In addition to this the newsletter features competitions you can enter to win some fabulous prizes – surely something for nothing can’t be a bad thing……

Finally don’t forget that this is the only Forces discount website that is officially recognised by the MOD. Make sure you check the web address when you log on. If it doesn’t say MOD it’s not the real thing!
